Buffalo King Oyster Mushrooms

This recipe is great for a party. This is a great alternative to buffalo chicken wings or buffalo cauliflower. Perfect for vegetarians.

Makes: 4 - 6 servings

Buffalo King Oyster Mushrooms

Sauce
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup hot sauce
  • 1/4 cup gochujang
  • 1 tsp garlic
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp brown sugar

Seasoning for flour
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp oregano

  • 1 1/2 cups of flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cups milk
  • 3-6 king oyster mushrooms, sliced into 1-inch piecs and cut in half
  • Oil for frying
  • Blue cheese dressing
    • 1/2 cup sour cream
    • 1 cup mayo
    • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
    • Juice of half lemon

    Instructions:
    1. Combine all ingredients for blue cheese in dish or jar. Chill until ready for use.
    2. You will need 3 shallow pans/dishes.
    3. Heat up oil in cast iron skillet over medium high heat for frying.
    4. While the oil is heating up. Place 1/2 cup of flour and 1/2 tbsp of seasoning in first dish. In the second dish, combine the eggs and milk. In the third dish, place remainig flour and 2 tbsp of seasonings in dish.
    5. Coat king oyster in flour (in dish 1), then in egg mixture, and then in flour mixture (in dish 3). Let sit for 5 minutes or until oil is heated up.
    6. Fry in oil 3-5 minutes or until golden brown. You can place oyster in 200 degree oven to keep warm until all oysters are fried. Serve with blue cheese dressing, extra sauce, carrots and celery sticks.
